Gary Bridge - DPhil
Gary is a Senior Lecturer at the Centre for Urban Studies, School for Policy Studies, University of Bristol. His research interests are focused on social change in urban neighbourhoods, especially the process of gentrification. He has previously conducted research on urban neighbourhood change in London, Los Angeles and Sydney. Gary's policy related work on these issues has been carried out for DTLR, EU and most recently for the Urban Task Force under Lord Rogers.

He is a core member of the Centre for Neighbourhood Research and is currently engaged as principal investigator on an ESRC funded project on the housing histories of gentrifiers in Bristol (with Ray Forrest). Gary's other research and teaching interests include developments in urban theory (two key texts with Sophie Watson) and especially theories of human interaction in cities (currently working on a sole authored book 'Reason in the city of difference'.
